What is a Cricut Machine, and how do you use it?

Cricut is an electronic cutter that can be used to cut all kinds of designs, including paper, vinyl, card stock and iron-on transfers. Some Cricut machines are capable of cutting leather and wood.

The Cricut can be used to cut almost anything that you might normally use a pair of scissors or a Xacto knife. The Cricut cuts with greater precision and speed than any hand, however.

How do I set my Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines up?

These steps will help you set up Cricut com setup windows / Mac computer.

  • Turn on the machine by plugging it in.
  • Use the USB cord to connect the machine to your computer or use Bluetooth to pair it.
  • In your browser, go to cricut.com/setup
  • Design Space for Desktop (help page)
  • Follow the instructions on screen to sign in, create your Cricut ID and set up your machine.
  • When you are asked to test the setup, you will know it is done.

Cricut set up for IOS/Android

  • Turn on the machine by plugging it in.
  • Bluetooth allows you to pair your Android or iOS phone with the Cricut machine
  • Install the Design Space app (help page).
  • Start the app and sign in or create Cricut ID.
  • Select Machine Setup from the menu.

The Best Cutting Machines

Three types of Cricut machines are currently on the market:

  • Cricut Explore 3 is the most popular machine and is the middle-level model.
  • Cricut Maker 3 is one step above the Explore 3. It can be used to cut more materials using a variety of tools.
  • Cricut Joy is a small model that is portable, easy to set-up, and simple to use.

How Cricut Machines Works?

A Cricut cutting machine can be compared to a household printer. A Cricut machine cuts your design from a sheet or other material. Instead of printing it onto paper, the small, movable blade uses to do so.

You first create a design using Cricut’s design app or software. You then send the design via Bluetooth or USB to the Cricut cutter machine. The Cricut machine will receive the design and cut it using a small, precise knife.

Here’s how to use your Cricut.

  1. First, select your cutting material and place it onto the sticky cutting mat. The Cricut cuts by holding the cutting mat in place. Place the mat in the machine.
  2. Next, select a design from Cricut Design Space. Choose your material settings and send your design to Cricut.
  3. To start cutting, press the button on your Cricut.
  4. Once the machine has finished cutting, take the mat out of the machine and remove any material.

How do I create Cricut ID?

You can create a Cricut ID if you have one already.

  • After opening the Cricut App on your Cricut machine, click the Cricut ID button.
  • Next, enter your Cricut Machine Model Number and any other general information.
  • Click on the Cricut setup Button to move on to the next step.
  • The last click Green Button said “Setup Cricut”, and then you can start setting up your Cricut Machine.
  • You will now need to set up your Cricut Machine.

Are You Using a Cricut Machine Device Connection?

You don’t need to connect your Cricut machine to other devices in order for it to cut. Cricut Design Space is required for any Cricut device to create a design or customize materials. Here’s how to connect your Windows and Mac devices with Cricut.

  • Plug in the machine, and then turn it on.
  • Use a USB cable, or Bluetooth to connect your computer to the desktop.
  • Next, open the browser and type cricut.com/setup.
  • Download the Cricut Design software now for your desktop.
  • Follow these instructions to sign in, or create an id.
  • After this, you can set up your Cricut.
  • A notification will be sent to you confirming the setup is complete.
  • Finally, you will be asked for the first project.
